The most famous and most remarkable monument of Grogan is a great fluted conical tower, which looks like a well sharpened pencil on the horizon. In fact, it dates from 1006 and is the tomb of Abuse the Ziyarid leader in the town which bears his name, Gonbad-e Kavus near Gorgon on the Turkman steppe. The ten–sided funerary tower is visible for a long distance. It is 62.8 m. high (this includes the conical rood, which is 12.5 m high) and stands on A 19.8 m mound. There is no way of getting to the upper part of the building which is in a remarkably good state of preservation considering that it was erected in 1006.
